Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Imran Jamal Hassan, President of the University of Kirkuk, and under the supervision and presence of the Dean of the College of Law and Political Science, Assistant Professor Dr. Murad Saeb Mahmoud, and in the presence of the teaching and administrative staff of the College, the Continuing Education Division at the College, in cooperation with the General Directorate for Combating Intellectual Terrorism in Kirkuk and the National Security Directorate in Kirkuk, held a scientific symposium entitled (Intellectual extremism and how to limit it) in the Hammurabi Hall on Monday morning, 1/12/2024.
The scientific symposium, which was held under the chairmanship of the Dean of the College of Law and Political Science, Assistant Professor Dr. Murad Saeb Mahmoud Al-Asas, discussed the definition of intellectual terrorism. The symposium demonstrated the increasing societal awareness among Iraqi society of the danger of the phenomenon of extremism and intellectual terrorism, and the necessity of confronting this phenomenon through the issuance of legal legislation in Iraq, the most important of which is Anti-Terrorism Law No. (13) of 2005 and Anti-Terrorism Service Law No. (31) of 2016, in addition to the necessity of raising future generations of Iraqi youth on values, morals, and good qualities and spreading the spirit of tolerance and peaceful societal coexistence, starting from the first cell of society, which is the family. The honorable Iraqi government, and finally with educational and pedagogical institutions, through lessons, lectures and seminars that spread the culture of combating extremism and intellectual terrorism among this important group in society and combating propaganda and ideas that call for terrorism, given that confronting terrorist ideology is an integrated societal responsibility that all institutions of society participate in implementing.
