A master’s thesis at the College of Law and Political Science at the University of Kirkuk discussed : The Legal Center for Women in Private International Law/A Comparative Study
The thesis submitted by the student: Sanaa Juma Hassan, aimed to shed light on the legal status of women and determine their role in the extent of their equality with men in matters of Iraqi nationality when transferring their nationality to their children and husband, and when losing and regaining their nationality, which is considered an important problem of nationality when distinguishing between men and women. In transferring nationality. Explaining the role of women in applying the rules of attribution related to matters of marriage, divorce, inheritance, and wills
The letter recommended that the legislator not extend the effect of the husband’s loss of citizenship to the wife if it was withdrawn from him due to committing an act considered a threat to the security and safety of the state, and to abolish the exception contained in Paragraph (5) of Article (19) of the Iraqi Civil Code, which did not give foreign women the right to apply their law. Rather, it gave preference to national law only, and this is illogical because private international law arose to deal with legal relations in which one of the parties is a foreigner.
