About the Department
The Department of Electrical Engineering was established in the academic year 2013/2014 in accordance with University Order No. 7/6/9844 dated 28/8/2013. The department is considered one of the important academic departments and a fundamental element in the process of community development due to the services it provides and the qualification of engineers who undertake work in various electrical fields in both public and private sectors. In the coming years, and subject to the availability of academic staff and requirements, the department aims to expand its academic programs and open postgraduate studies in the fields of power systems, electrical machines, electronics, communications, control, and computer engineering, in line with the rapid developments in various fields of life and the needs of Iraqi society for these specializations.

This specialization opens wide career opportunities in technology and infrastructure sectors, including:
- Power and Energy Systems: Working in power generation stations (conventional and renewable) and designing national transmission and distribution networks.
- Construction and Contracting Engineering: Designing and planning electrical systems for buildings and large facilities, including lighting and protection systems.
- Industrial Control and Automation: Designing and programming control panels and automated production lines in factories using PLC and SCADA technologies.
- Communications and Networks: Working in telecommunications companies to develop mobile networks, fiber-optic systems, and radio and satellite broadcasting systems.
- Electronics and Embedded Systems: Designing and developing electronic circuits, smart devices, and processors.
- Renewable Energy: Designing and installing solar power systems and wind turbines as sustainable alternative solutions.
