College of Engineering at Kirkuk University holds seminars to discuss research proposals of graduate students in the Department of Civil Engineering
A seminar session was held at the College of Engineering at Kirkuk University on Monday 26/8/2024 to discuss research proposals of graduate students who have completed the courses and started the research phase, under the supervision of the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Jelnik Akram Omar, and the Head of the Department of Civil Engineering, Professor Dr. Taymour Abdul Majeed Oji, and in the presence of a number of department lecturers.

The session included discussing a number of research papers submitted by students, where the following research proposals were reviewed:
1. Student Dereen Raouf Saber: She presented her research entitled "Improving the control of seepage in Iraqi earth dams through artificial intelligence", which aims to improve methods of controlling water seepage in earth dams using artificial intelligence techniques. The research was supervised by Professor Dr. Jelnik Akram Omar.
2. Student Saja Mahmoud Mohammed Abdulrahman: In her research entitled "Drought Assessment and Prediction Using Artificial Intelligence", she discussed the use of artificial intelligence techniques to assess and predict drought conditions, which contributes to improving water resources management. The research was supervised by Professor Dr. Taymour Abdul Majeed Ibrahim Oji.
3. Student Israa Ibrahim Farman: She presented her research entitled "The Effect of Long-Term Flooding on the Californian Bearing Ratio and Durability of Clay Soils that Act as a Road Cushion and Treated with Geopolymer", where she studied the effect of long-term flooding on the properties of clay soil used as a base layer for roads after treating it with geopolymer. The research was supervised by Assistant Professor Dr. Majed Hussein Hamad.
4. Student Aala Nouri Mirza: She presented her research entitled "Evaluation and Laboratory Treatment of Field Soil with Engineering Problems: The Garden City Complex as a Case Study", which aims to evaluate and treat soils with engineering problems in the Garden City Complex. The research was supervised by Assistant Professor Dr. Aram Mohammed Rahim.
During the session, the students discussed the content and objectives of their research, and reviewed the proposed methods for implementing it and the potential challenges they might face. The attendees also presented a set of proposals for developing the research work. At the end of the session, the submitted research proposals were approved, stressing the importance of continuing to develop this research to achieve distinguished scientific results.
