As part of the Civil Engineering Department’s strategic vision to enhance scientific research and foster academic engagement at both local and international levels, a high-level academic delegation from the College of Engineering – University of Kirkuk, led by Prof. Dr. Chelang Akram Omar, Dean of the College, along with a number of faculty members and postgraduate students, participated in the 5th International Conference of the Iraqi Geotechnical Society, held concurrently with the 3rd World Conference on Engineering Sciences and Energy, from July 2–3, 2025, at Komar University of Science and Technology – Sulaymaniyah.

The conference served as an important scientific platform for exchanging ideas and exploring cutting-edge research across a range of disciplines, including:

Sustainable urban planning
The impact of climate change on engineering projects
The College had a strong and active presence, marked by the acceptance of 15 scientific papers submitted by faculty members and postgraduate students from the Civil Engineering Department, all of which will be published in Scopus-indexed proceedings—reflecting the department’s scientific rigor and outstanding research activity.
