As part of the scientific activities of the College of Engineering at the University of Kirkuk, and with the support of Prof. Dr. Chelang Akram Omar, Dean of the College, and under the supervision of Asst. Prof. Dr. Iyad Arab Ghaidan, Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department, a scientific visit was organized for students of the Mechanical Engineering Department to Kirkuk Gas Power Station, accompanied by faculty members overseeing the visit.
The delegation was welcomed by a team of engineers working at the station, who provided a detailed explanation of the plant's operation mechanism, its working sections, and the turbines used, which contribute to generating up to 520 megawatts of electrical power.
During the visit, students had the opportunity to explore various sections of the station and learn about energy production control methods and integration with the national grid. The visit included a field tour within the facility, where technical and practical insights were shared, enhancing students' applied understanding of power generation systems.
At the end of the visit, the faculty members and students expressed their gratitude to the plant management and supervising engineers for their warm reception and valuable cooperation. They appreciated this valuable opportunity, which significantly contributed to enriching their practical knowledge in their field of specialization.
