Under the patronage of the Dean of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Jalnak Akram Omar, and the supervision of the Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Asst. Prof. Dr. Iyad Arab Ghaidan, the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the College of Engineering at the University of Kirkuk organized a scientific trip for third-year students to the Dibs Gas Power Plant, the unit that was recently opened by Prime Minister Mr. Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani with a production capacity of 320 megawatts.
This visit aims to enhance the practical knowledge of students by directly viewing the mechanisms of the plant and its components, including gas turbines, control systems, and electric generators.

The station engineers also provided detailed explanations about the operation and maintenance processes, which gave students the opportunity to link theoretical information with practical applications.
The development of the Dibs Gas Power Plant is one of the vital projects in Kirkuk Governorate, as it contributes significantly to supporting the electrical energy system in the governorate. The students and supervisors expressed their thanks to the station management for the warm welcome and valuable information that enriched their practical knowledge, stressing the importance of such visits in developing their engineering skills and qualifying them for the labor market
