A research team from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the College of Engineering at Kirkuk University publishes solid scientific research in an international journal on forced convection
Professor Dr. Tahseen Ahmed Tahseen, along with Assistant Lecturer Youssef Hashim Hussein, two teachers in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the College of Engineering at the University of Kirkuk, and in cooperation with two teachers from the Northern Technical University, published a research in the international journal Journal of Advanced Sciences and Engineering Technologies (JASET) on air flow through three Triangular cylinders with rounded corner edges in a channel under forced convection.
The study included an analysis of heat transfer by forced convection with constant laminar flow around three triangular cylinders. A numerical investigation was performed to analyze the cross-section variation from a triangle to a circle by varying the edges of a triangular cylinder within a 2D channel in air. The effect of Reynolds number and transverse pitch on the heat transfer properties was studied.
Five Reynolds numbers (based on inlet height channel) are studied (Re = 100, 200, 400, 800, 1200) with constant heat flux on the cylinder surface (q^'' = 5000 W/m^2), and S_T = 1.5D ,2D,3D,D is the side length of the triangle. The governing partial differential equations, which include continuity, momentum and energy equations, were solved computationally using Workbench 2022R2 software. The results show that heat transfer increases with changes in the transverse distance and diameter of the rounded edge.
