College of Engineering Launches Extensive Tree-Planting Campaign to Enhance Campus Environment


Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Engineering, Professor Dr. Jelenk Akram Omar, the college has launched a comprehensive afforestation and tree-planting campaign across its campus grounds and gardens. The initiative saw active participation from faculty members, administrative staff, and students.

The campaign aims to expand green spaces, improve the campus climate, and promote a culture of environmental stewardship. By fostering a sustainable ecosystem, the college seeks to provide an optimal and refreshing academic atmosphere for its students.

Commitment to Sustainability and Volunteerism

This initiative is part of a broader series of environmental activities organized by the College of Engineering. It reflects the college’s commitment to community service and its role in raising environmental awareness while instilling the values of volunteerism among the youth.

Technical Execution

Ms. Laila Awni Abbas, an agricultural engineer and head of the Agricultural Unit, stated that the campaign adheres to the strategic directives of the **Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Presidency of the University of Kirkuk. She noted:

> "This project is designed to bolster the environmental landscape of the university. We have successfully planted more than 200 diverse tree species, carefully selected to enhance the campus aesthetics and biodiversity."
