On the morning of Tuesday, June 3, 2025, the 18th morning session and the 12th evening session of the College Council at the College of Engineering, University of Kirkuk, were held. The meetings were chaired by Professor Dr. Jelank Akram Omar, the esteemed Dean of the College, with the attendance of council members including the Scientific Assistant Dean, heads of academic departments, the Director of Graduate Studies, and several representatives from relevant departments and units.
The council conducted an extensive discussion on the success rates of fourth-year students across all academic departments, based on the final exam results of the current academic year. The discussion focused on analyzing the success rates and comparing them with previous years, identifying reasons for the decline in some specializations, and working on practical and scientific solutions to address these issues.
The council also reviewed the mechanism to address cases of students who narrowly failed to pass, proposing to allow a maximum of 5 remedial points to be added for students who qualify under this procedure to change their status to full pass. This proposal is to be implemented under strict regulations that respect academic fairness and the recommendations of the academic departments, ensuring the preservation of the quality of educational outcomes.
The council recommended forming a special committee to follow up on the implementation of this mechanism. The committee will verify and approve the list of beneficiaries, which will then be submitted to the Dean’s office. Department heads are also instructed to submit detailed reports on the eligible cases.
