The College of Engineering at the University of Kirkuk Organizes an Awareness Seminar on the Dangers of Drugs and Ways to Combat Them

Under the patronage of the President of the University of Kirkuk, Professor Dr. Imran Jamal Hassan, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Engineering, Professor Dr. Chelang Akram Omar, the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Engineering, in cooperation with the Educational Guidance Unit and the Kirkuk Directorate of Narcotics Control, organized an awareness seminar titled "The Dangers of Drugs and Ways to Combat Them" on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at 10:00 AM.
The seminar was presented by Engineer Shwan Najat Mohammed, Director of Public Relations and Media at the Kirkuk Directorate of Narcotics Control, and Mr. Haidar Abdul Karim from the same directorate. They provided a detailed explanation of the impact of drugs on society, the methods used to combat drug abuse, and preventive measures to reduce its spread.
The seminar covered key topics, including the dangers of drug abuse and its negative effects on individuals and society, with a focus on modern strategies for combating drug use and preventing its spread. Legal aspects and procedures for prosecuting drug traffickers were also discussed. The speakers emphasized the importance of family and educational awareness in protecting youth from addiction and provided practical advice to raise public awareness about the risks and preventive measures.
The seminar was held in the postgraduate discussion hall on the second floor of the College of Engineering, with a large audience of students and faculty members. Attendees showed great interest in the topics presented and engaged in discussions and questions about supporting community awareness efforts.
The seminar concluded with expressions of gratitude and appreciation to the speakers for their efforts in raising awareness about the dangers of drugs. The organizers emphasized the importance of continuing such educational activities to combat this serious societal threat.
The event was open to the public and was organized by the Continuing Education Unit of the College of Engineering, under the supervision of Dr. Yousif Salam Saeed.
