The College of Engineering at Kirkuk University holds a symposium on drugs and their impact on society in cooperation with the Community Police Department of the Ministry of Interior
Under the patronage of the President of Kirkuk University, Prof. Dr. The honorable Imran Jamal Hassan, and under the supervision of Mrs. Dean of the College of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Dear Jalnak Akram Omar
As part of student awareness efforts, the Student Committee, in cooperation with the College’s Psychological Counseling Center, organized interactive workshops on the dangers of drugs and effective ways to prevent them. The Women’s Empowerment Unit, in cooperation with the College’s Continuing Education Division, in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior/Community Police Department, held on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at 10 am in the central hall of the Mechanical Engineering Department, a cultural symposium entitled (Drugs and their Impact on Society).
The educational lecture delivered by (Judicial Major Ghanem Ibrahim Ali) from the Minister’s Office in the Department of Relations and Information from the Community Police Department in Kirkuk included drug problems, how to avoid them, and spreading awareness and social communication. The jurist pioneer’s speech also included the motives behind these actions. In conclusion, some important information and advice was given to avoid falling victim to drug addiction, how to treat a person, and the necessity of spreading the legal culture among members of society and increasing awareness. The symposium recommended a number of important tips, including:
1. Holding an art exhibition to promote mental health in cooperation with students of the College of Arts.
2. Issuing a booklet to raise awareness for students about the dangers of drugs and how to prevent them.
3. Forming an advisory team to support students with addiction issues.
4. Conduct individual sessions with addiction treatment experts for students.
5. Conduct more seminars and workshops on dealing with life pressures.
6. Volunteer teams to promote awareness about addiction among students.
7. Establish an awareness campaign on social media to highlight the dangers of drugs.
