A lecturer from the College of Education for Human Sciences participates in discussing a doctoral thesis

The lecturer in the Department of Arabic Language, Assistant Professor Dr. Khaled Ahmed Hawas, participated in discussing the doctoral thesis entitled (The significance of the words of the sensible and abstract between the situation and the Quranic usage) by the researcher Wadallah Majeed Hishan Al-Taie, in the hall of the College of Education for Human Sciences at Tikrit University.

This study addressed an important issue of the Arabic language, which is the issue of position and usage and what it includes in terms of dimensions in knowing the origins of the meanings of words, especially the sensory and abstract meaning, in addition to the linguistic controls that govern the semantic transition of words from position and their passage through ties to usage. The study was organized into parts represented by an introduction, a preface, three chapters, and a conclusion. As for the preface, it was entitled (The meaning between position and Quranic usage), and as for the chapters, it was devoted to studying examples of meaning between the sensory and abstract mentioned in Quranic usage. The first chapter was entitled (The meaning of the words of the sensory and abstract in the manifestations of semantic development), and it included four topics. As for the second chapter, it was entitled (The meaning of the words of the sensory and abstract in semantic phenomena) in three topics, and the third chapter was entitled (The meaning of the words of the sensory and abstract in the science of rhetoric). The study reached several results, including:

1- The study showed that the situational meaning is the first meaning in linguistic usage, and it often begins with the sensory meaning.

2- It became clear during the journey of the transfer of words that some meanings emerged, which are expressed as (the customary meaning, the metaphorical meaning, and the legal meaning) and others, and all of them emerged through their transfer from the original situation to the Quranic usage.

3- The study revealed that the sensory meaning precedes the abstract moral meaning, and that language moves in its development and growth from the sensory to the abstract; therefore, the sensory meaning was more worthy of being the true original (the situational), and the abstract meanings are branches of it through usage.

4- The origin of the situation is the standard basis and the fixed origin of all communication processes (usage); because usage must have a standard that it relies on, which is the origin of the situation.

5- The duality of position and use forms the backbone of any linguistic analysis, so it would have been more appropriate for the researcher in the origins of meanings, and even the linguistic system, to take this duality into consideration when analyzing the language.
