Awareness lecture on the dangers of electronic blackmail

Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Education for Humanities, Professor Dr. Farhad Aziz Mohiuddin, and in order to enhance digital awareness and protect students from electronic risks, the Department of Educational and Psychological Sciences, in cooperation with the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit, organized an awareness lecture entitled "Electronic blackmail, its psychological and social dimensions and ways to confront it" presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Saad Abdullah Hassoun. The lecture dealt with the concept of electronic blackmail and its various forms, explaining its psychological and social effects on victims and focused on the methods that blackmailers resort to to lure victims, in addition to reviewing legal, social and psychological protection methods to confront this growing phenomenon in the digital age. The lecturer stressed the importance of awareness of information security and not sharing personal data with unreliable parties, calling on students to be cautious and responsible in dealing with cyberspace. He also stressed the need to report any case of blackmail to the competent authorities and not to submit to the demands of blackmailers. The Dean praised the importance of these awareness lectures, stressing that digital security has become an urgent necessity in the current era and that the responsibility of academic institutions is not limited to Not only does it provide knowledge, but it also includes guiding students and protecting them from the risks they may face in the online environment. He also praised the efforts of the lecturer, calling for the continuation of organizing such events that contribute to building an aware generation capable of protecting itself and dealing with digital challenges consciously and responsibly.
