Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Farhad Aziz Mohiuddin, Dean of the College of Education for Humanities, the Department of Geography, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Division, held a scientific symposium entitled "The most prominent applications of artificial intelligence in scientific research". The symposium was presented by Asst. Prof. Dr. Raed Ahmed Youssef and Asst. Prof. Nazir Ahmed Hilal. The symposium addressed the importance of artificial intelligence and its advanced applications in scientific research, especially in the field of geography. The lecturers reviewed how to employ geographic information systems (GIS) and remote sensing technologies to analyze spatial data and predict environmental changes. The lecture focused on the role of artificial intelligence in improving the accuracy of results and accelerating research processes, which opens new horizons for the development of scientific studies. In his speech during the symposium, His Excellency the Dean praised the content of the lecture and commended the efforts of the lecturers in shedding light on this advanced field. He stressed that artificial intelligence represents a "double-edged sword" as it can contribute to the development of scientific research and achieve great progress if used consciously and responsibly. On the other hand, it can carry ethical and social challenges if It was misused and His Excellency pointed out the need to enhance the awareness of researchers and students about the capabilities and risks of artificial intelligence, calling for the use of this technology to serve society and solve environmental and developmental problems. He also stressed the role of the college in supporting scientific initiatives that combine academic knowledge with modern technical applications.
