Under the patronage and attendance of His Excellency the Dean of the College of Education for Humanities, Professor Dr. Farhad Aziz Mohiuddin, a distinguished scientific lecture was organized in the Department of History entitled "The Impact of the Administrative and Financial Elite in Establishing the Modern Iraqi State (1921-1958)" delivered by Professor Dr. Ali Shaker Ali, one of the most prominent academics specializing in modern and contemporary history. The lecture dealt with the pivotal role played by the administrative and financial elite in building the foundations of the modern Iraqi state during the royal period. The lecturer reviewed the political and administrative roles of this elite and their impact on formulating the economic and financial policies that contributed to shaping the features of the emerging state. He also shed light on the most prominent figures who held senior positions in administration and finance and how their ideas and procedures contributed to achieving stability and developing the administrative infrastructure of the state. The lecture also focused on the challenges faced by this elite, whether economic, social or political, in light of the changing regional and international conditions. Dr. Ali Shaker Ali discussed the impact of modern administrative thought coming from the West and how the Iraqi elite benefited from international experiences in establishing a stable financial and administrative system. At the end of the lecture, His Excellency the Dean praised the rich scientific presentation presented by Dr. Ali, appreciating the effort made to shed light on this important historical era. He also expressed his appreciation for this event that enriched their knowledge and inspired them to delve deeper into the study of modern Iraqi history.
