Under the patronage and attendance of the Dean of the College of Education for Human Sciences, Professor Dr. Farhad Aziz Mohiuddin, the master's thesis entitled (The effect of a counseling program according to Meikenbaum's theory to reduce psychological disability among middle school students) was discussed in the Department of Educational and Psychological Sciences by the student Kalshan Saifuddin Nouri in the college hall on 9/22/2024.
The thesis aimed to identify the level of psychological disability and build a cognitive-behavioral program according to Meikenbaum's theory to reduce psychological disability among middle school students by verifying a set of hypotheses represented by the following:
1. There are no statistically significant differences between the ranks of the scores of the members of the experimental group in the pre- and post-tests.
2. There are no statistically significant differences between the ranks of the scores of the control group in the pre- and post-tests.
3. There are no differences between the ranks of the scores of the experimental group and the control group in the post-test. The researcher built a psychological disability scale according to Seligman's theory. She also built a guidance program based on the methods and techniques of Meikenbaum's theory. She extracted the psychometric properties represented by validity and reliability. She applied it to an experimental sample of 10 female students and a control sample of 10 female students. The results indicated that the students suffer from psychological disability. There were also differences between the ranks of the experimental and control groups in the post-test in favor of the experimental group. There were no differences in the ranks of the control group's scores between the pre- and post-test. The study also reached a number of recommendations and proposals.
