The lecturer in the Kurdish Language Department, 2.Md. Azad Amin Baghwan, participated in discussing the doctoral thesis entitled (lexical and post-lexical phonology in the Kurdish language) by researcher Limo Mahmoud Tawfiq on 4/25/2024 at Sulaymaniyah University.

The thesis reviewed how to apply global phonological theories to the Kurdish language, with a focus on the principles that govern the representation of phonemes and the application of its rules. The research deals in three main aspects in its chapters. The first aspect was presenting the theory and the principles of its application in the Kurdish language and also identifying the environments in which phonetic phenomena appear. The second aspect dealt with the attempt to prove the rhythmic representation as part of the lexical representations and not just a temporary or post-lexical representation, and the third aspect explained the structure of rhythmic weight and places of stress in phonetic words within the lexical and post-lexical models, explaining the different rhythmic units and the ways in which the units influence word stress and their morphological structure. .
