Master's Thesis Discusses Positive Psychology Techniques in Developing Psychological Resilience

Under the patronage and attendance of the Dean of the College of Education for Human Sciences, Professor Dr. Farhad Aziz Mohiuddin, a master's thesis entitled "The Effect of a Counseling Program Based on Some Positive Psychology Techniques on Developing Psychological Resilience in Mothers of Autistic Children" was discussed in the Department of Educational and Psychological Sciences. The thesis, presented by student Manahil Mustafa Shihab, was held in the college hall on March 6, 2025.

The thesis aimed to identify the effect of the counseling program by testing the following hypotheses:

1. There are no statistically significant differences at a significance level of (0.05) between the scores of the experimental group on the pre- and post-tests on the psychological resilience scale.

2. There are no statistically significant differences at a significance level of (0.05) between the scores of the control group on the pre- and post-tests on the psychological resilience scale.

 3- There are no statistically significant differences at a significance level of (0.05) between the scores of the experimental group and the control group in the post-test on the psychological resilience scale.

The researcher prepared a psychological resilience scale consisting of (44) items distributed across six domains. She also developed a counseling program based on some positive psychology techniques consisting of (14) sessions. The program was applied to a sample of mothers of autistic children in Kirkuk Governorate. The results showed statistically significant differences at a significance level of (0.05) between the scores of the members of the experimental and control groups in the post-tests on the psychological resilience scale in favor of the experimental group. The study concluded with a set of recommendations and proposals.
