Under the patronage and attendance of the Dean of the College of Education for Human Sciences, Professor Dr. Farhad Aziz Mohi El-Din, the master's thesis entitled (The effect of a guidance program using the reformulation method in reducing psychological defeat among middle school students) was discussed in the Department of Educational and Psychological Sciences by the student (Tahseen Ibrahim Abdul Majeed) and in the college hall on 15-1-2024.
The thesis aimed to identify the effect of the guidance program by testing the following hypotheses:
1- There are no statistically significant differences at a significance level of (0.05) between the ranks of the experimental group's scores for the pre- and post-tests on the psychological defeat scale.
2- There are no statistically significant differences at a significance level of (0.05) between the ranks of the control group's scores for the pre- and post-tests on the psychological defeat scale.
3- There are no statistically significant differences at a significance level of (0.05) between the ranks of the experimental group and the control group in the post-test on the psychological defeat scale.
The researcher prepared a psychological defeat scale consisting of -30- paragraphs distributed over four dimensions, and built a guidance program based on the reformulation method of Aaron Beck, which was applied to a sample of second-grade middle school students in Kirkuk Governorate, Al-Hawija District. The results showed statistically significant differences at a significance level of (0.05) between the ranks of the scores of the members of the experimental and control groups in the post-test on the psychological defeat scale in favor of the experimental group. The study came out with a set of recommendations and proposals.
