The College of Basic Education organized a workshop entitled "Technology and its Impact on Early Childhood Development in Iraq," presented by Assistant Professor Najib Juma Ayoub, a lecturer in the Kindergarten Department. The workshop addressed the increasing role of technology in children's lives and its positive and negative impact on their mental and social development. The most important technological means used in the early childhood stages were reviewed, as were how to harness them to enhance children's skills and cognitive abilities.
The workshop also discussed the potential risks of excessive and unguided use of technology, such as poor social interaction and the impact of screens on children’s mental and physical development. The lecturer stressed the importance of the role of parents and teachers in guiding children’s use of technology in a balanced manner that contributes to developing their skills in a healthy and safe way. The workshop also included suggestions on how to integrate technology into the early childhood education process in Iraq, ensuring that children benefit from it in a manner that is consistent with their developmental and educational needs.
