The Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit at the College of Basic Education organized a distinguished guidance symposium entitled “Being Kind to Parents” directed to its students, which was presented by both teachers, Dr. Walaa Hashim Muhammad and Dr. Israa Yassin Muhammad. The symposium included the importance of honoring one’s parents in Islam and Arab culture while shedding light on the values and morals that an individual should have towards his parents. This was then followed by a review of practical advice and guidance for students on how to appreciate and respect parents, as well as provide them with emotional and moral support at all times. In addition, the importance of building a healthy and positive relationship with parents was discussed, as was how this relationship can contribute to the individual’s personal and professional growth and development. During the symposium, expertise and experiences were exchanged between the students, and they were directed towards proper dealing with their parents, which made the symposium an experience rich in knowledge and guidance in the field of honoring parents.
