College of Arts Holds a Commemorative Festival for the Speicher Massacre

Under the patronage of the President of the University of Kirkuk, Prof. Dr. Omran Jamal Hassan, and supervised by the Dean of the College of Arts, Prof. Dr. Omer Najm Al-Deen Enja, the College of Arts, through the Continuing Education Division in cooperation with the Department of Arabic Language and the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit, organized a cultural awareness festival titled “Speicher in Our Hearts.”

The festival included several activities, with the Head of the Arabic Language Department, Assistant Professor Dr. Koystan Najm Al-Din Anja, delivering a lecture titled “A Historical Overview and Introduction to the Speicher Massacre.” In her lecture, she addressed the heinous historical crime that shamed humanity and condemned it as a criminal act committed against unarmed Iraqi youths.

Assistant Professor Dr. Muhammad Hussein Mahmoud also gave another lecture titled “The Speicher Crime: A Study of the Psychological and Social Impacts on Iraqi Society.”

Additionally, the students of the Arabic Language Department, under the supervision and direction of the Head of the Arabic Department, performed a play titled “We Will Not Forget the Martyrs of Speicher.” The event also featured poetry recitations by the faculty and students, video presentations, posters displayed around the college about the massacre, and the distribution of educational and awareness-raising brochures.
