A Seminar at the College of Arts on Iraq's National Day

The Department of Public Cultural Relations – The Palace of Culture and Arts in Kirkuk, in collaboration with the College of Arts at the University of Kirkuk, held a seminar on "Iraq's National Day."

During the seminar, the Dean of the College of Arts, Professor Dr. Omer Najm Al_deen Enja, stated that the seminar is being held to commemorate the anniversary of Iraq's independence from the British Mandate and its accession to the League of Nations on October 3, 1932.

He explained that political disagreements arose over Iraq's National Day after 2003, and no specific day was agreed upon, whether to designate it as the day of Iraq's occupation or liberation by transforming from a dictatorial regime to a democratic one and making this Iraq's National Day. However, the government approved a law in 2020 that stipulates the recognition of October 3rd of every year as Iraq's National Day, based on the date of October 3, 1932.

The Dean also pointed out that holding such activities and events would strengthen national identity, foster unity, and promote brotherhood among the people of the country.

The seminar also included a lecture presented by Dr. Abdullah Abdul-Majeed Hassan, a faculty member from the Department of Media at the College of Arts.
