Dean of the College of Arts Participates in an International Forum on Speech Impairments in Women

On February 8, 2025, the Dean of the College of Arts at the University of Kirkuk, Prof. Dr. Omer Najm Al-Deen Enja, participated in the hybrid international scientific forum titled "Speech Impairments in Women: Psychological, Social, and Cultural Challenges in the Workplace and Education... Towards Real Empowerment and Building Equal Opportunities for Integration and Inclusion."

In his speech during the forum, the dean emphasized the importance of women as a vital segment of society. He highlighted that the topic of speech impairments in women and the challenges they face is one that should not be overlooked, particularly in the educational and pedagogical contexts.

He explained that there might be difficulties in obtaining accurate statistics on the issues hindering educators, employees, and students, as some women tend to hide their psychological or physical problems. He pointed out that discrimination and marginalization of women in society are some of the main challenges faced, urging that there should be no discrimination between genders. He called for the elimination of such disparities to uphold our shared humanity in our treatment of others, regardless of color or gender.

The dean also highlighted that the Iraqi legislator had amended the law for people with disabilities, and the Iraqi government had underscored the importance of this issue by mandating ministries to allocate special seats for people with disabilities in education, appointments, and defending their rights. Additionally, the government provides health care services, housing, and discounted transportation for them.
