The Dean of the College of Arts at the University of Kirkuk, Professor Dr. Omer Najm Al_Deen Enja, participated on Thursday (October 10, 2024) in the international seminar titled "Mental Health of Women with Disabilities: Towards Sustainable Psychological Support and Comprehensive Empowerment."
The seminar addressed the latest strategies and practices to support disabled women and achieve comprehensive empowerment in society through sustainable psychological support programs.
In his intervention during the seminar, the dean stated that women play a greater role than men in multiple fields, and nowadays, they are excelling in diverse roles, whether in education, culture, health, or other areas. Their contributions cannot be disregarded.
He pointed out that a disabled woman, if she enjoys good mental health, will be beneficial both to herself and to the society she belongs to. He also noted that Islamic law obligates people to preserve health, which is considered one of the highest essential interests, and prohibits anything that harms human health.
He further explained that when a person is not in a good mental state, they experience disorders and negative reactions that reflect on their life and those around them. He emphasized that when governments enact laws, they do not discriminate between men and women, ensuring that both benefit equally from such legislation.
