The Dean of the College of Arts at the University of Kirkuk, Prof. Dr. Omar Najm Al-Din Enja, participated in the virtual international scientific symposium titled: "Empowering Women with Disabilities in the Global Tourism Agenda: Challenges of Accessibility and Prospects for Change."
In his speech during the symposium, the Dean emphasized the importance of empowering women with disabilities by providing them with the necessary support and resources to achieve their full potential and actively participate in society.
He pointed out that enhancing the status of women with disabilities and utilizing their capabilities within the global tourism agenda includes providing opportunities for education, training, and employment, as well as promoting their rights in all areas and combating discrimination and violence against them.
He also noted that empowering women with disabilities aims to achieve equality and social justice and to enable them to live with dignity and independence. In this context, he stated that Iraq ratified the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) under Law No. (38) of 2013, which obliges countries to implement its principles regarding the protection of the rights of persons with disabilities, including women with disabilities.
