College of Arts Organizes a Field Trip for Students to Al-Dibs District

As part of the scientific activities of the Department of Applied Geography at the College of Arts, University of Kirkuk, and in an effort to enhance academic development, the department, under the supervision of its head, Prof. Dr. Burkan Saeed Osman, and a group of faculty members, organized a field trip for all stages of the department on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, to the Al-Dibs area.

The field trip included a visit to the gypsum quarry in the Al-Fatha formation, number 8, as well as a visit to the Al-Dibs Forests, which feature diverse geographical landscapes.

The field trip aimed to provide students with practical knowledge of the field geography of the Al-Dibs Dam, describe geomorphological features such as hooped backs, cuesta formations, plateaus, and folds, and familiarize students with the geographical formations of the region from all aspects. This experience is expected to offer valuable scientific benefits to the students.
