A Developmental Course Titled "Exam Committees Work"

The Continuous Education Department, in collaboration with the Continuous Education Center at Kirkuk University, organized a developmental course titled "Exam Committee Work." The course targeted the primary study exam committees at the college and was presented by Dr. Waleed Abdullah Ismail, the Assistant Dean for Administrative Affairs, and Dr. Nabil Shahin Mohammed, the Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs.

The three-day course covered the role of exam committees, including the handling, security, printing, distribution, and storage of exam questions. It also addressed the grading process, recording grades in exam booklets and records, and exam result details. The course emphasized the importance of the hall supervisors in explaining exam instructions to students, verifying student identity and attendance, and the presence of supervisors and invigilators in the exam halls before and during exams. Additionally, it covered other related topics such as verifying the student's full name and various examination procedures.

The aim of the course was to regulate the mechanisms of exam committees' work, including grade distribution, calculation of graduation averages, and handling cases of academic failure and deferral as outlined in Instruction No. 134 of 2000 issued by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The course also addressed exam administration, invigilation, dealing with cheating cases, exam booklet correction, objections to exam results, and included several inputs from the attendees, leading to discussions on various matters related to the work of these committees.

The course was attended and participated by all exam committee members from various departments, as well as newly appointed staff with higher degrees. The total number of participants was eighty-eight. In conclusion, the attendees praised the efforts exerted by both the academic and administrative staff in organizing this valuable course, highlighting the extent of the benefits gained from it.
