BASIC MEDICAL SCIENCES BRANCH
About the Branch
The Basic Midical Science Branch within the College of Dentistry is the cornerstone of dental education due to its significance in providing foundational, scientific, and cognitive knowledge to undergraduate students before they are involved in the clinical aspects of dental specialities. Established in 2014, it serves as the nucleus for other branches within the College of Dentistry at the University of Kirkuk. It encompasses a diverse range of fundamental disciplines, including Biology, Microbiology, General Histology, Physiology, Human Anatomy, Pharmacology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Computer Science, and Medical Physics. These foundational subjects provide dental students with a deep understanding of the human body and its relationship to oral health. Scientific activities in the department are conducted through both theoretical and practical lectures, laboratory work, and research endeavours undertaken by its academic staff.
Our Vision
Our Vision is to advance dental research, foster a community of dedicated scholars, enhance oral health, and empower our students through exemplary teaching, ensuring the next generation of dentists are well-equipped for excellence in their careers.
Our Mission
The mission of the Basic Science Branch is to advance fundamental scientific research, promote innovation and collaboration, and provide a strong foundation of knowledge to support the practice of dentistry and enhance oral health.
Our Objective
We are dedicated to training students for the graduation and preparation of exceptional dentists in oral and dental healthcare with a strong commitment to academic ethics. These dentists will be well-equipped with a diverse range of knowledge, sciences, and skills. We continuously strive to develop and update basic science curricula in accordance with the evolving needs of our society. Moreover, we are committed to providing specialized programs for postgraduate studies and cultivating highly competent academic staff. Our approach is firmly grounded in the adoption of modern research methods and the utilization of advanced laboratory techniques.
