Importance of the Specialization

The Artificial Intelligence department at the College of Computer Science and Information Technology, University of Kirkuk, was established as an extension of the rapid cognitive revolution in machine learning and big data. Officially founded on 1/9/2020, the department continues to prepare graduates for careers in public and private institutions that rely on intelligent data analysis and automated systems.

The department welcomes high school graduates (Science and Applied branches) and continuously reviews its research strategies to serve national issues in scientific, industrial, and environmental fields using smart models.

Vision

To provide premier services to the university and society in developing and applying intelligent systems and data modeling, adhering to approved international standards in the field of artificial intelligence.

Mission

Teaching the fundamentals and techniques in building and designing: Expert Systems, Machine Learning Models, Computer Vision, and Natural Language Processing (NLP), alongside conducting pioneering scientific research.

Core Goals

  • Prepare specialized academic staff skilled in building intelligent algorithms and analyzing data.
  • Equip students with Big Data processing skills to develop systems that aid in automated decision-making.
  • Provide students with the expertise needed to design and manage Robotic systems and smart Internet of Things (IoT) applications.
  • Encourage scientific research in the fields of Deep Learning and image analysis.
  • Develop e-learning methods and support environments for Cloud Computing and data-driven learning.

Degree Awarded

The academic program consists of four full academic years following a rigorous curriculum that includes both theoretical and practical courses. Upon completing the requirements, graduates are awarded a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Artificial Intelligence.

Career Opportunities

The department prepares graduates to work as Machine Learning Engineers or Data Scientists. They are also qualified to work in financial, industrial, and medical institutions as specialists in developing expert systems, predictive analysis, robotics, and smart cities.
