Based on the Scientific Cooperation Exchange between Iraqi universities, Prof. Dr. Mohsen Omar Mohamed, Assistant Dean of the College of Science for Scientific Affairs has been elected as a PhD committee examining member. The thesis was prepared by Aya Jassim Muhammad at the University of Tikrit / College of Education for Pure Sciences - Department of Chemistry. Her thesis is "Evaluation of the effectiveness and purification of glutathione peroxidase and its relationship to some biochemical indicators in women with breast cancer".
The study estimated the effectiveness of the enzyme glutathione peroxidase and several biochemical variables including superoxide desmiotase, malon didehyde, calactin-3, Kremlin-1, norcioline-1, oxyintomodolin. It also included partial purification of the enzyme glutathione peroxidase and the study of enzyme kinetics in women with breast cancer. The results showed a significant decrease in the level of oxycintomodline and the glutathione peroxidase with an increase in the level of other enzymes under study. In this study, aging influences Chemotherapy variables in women with breast cancer compared to the control group. The glutathione peroxidase was purified from the serum of women with breast cancer with a molecular weight of 60KD and a high purity of 3.80 using gel filtration.
After extensive discussion and defense of the thesis by the student, the committee approved the thesis taking into account the feedbacks submitted by the committee and granting the student PhD in chemistry.
