Vision, Mission, and Objectives of the Chemistry Department
The department was established in the academic year 2005-2006 as one of the departments of the College of Science / University of Kirkuk with a scientifically integrated teaching staff. The first batch graduated in the academic year 2008-2009. Since its establishment, the department has been working to develop the capabilities and potential of the teaching, technical, and administrative staff, build laboratories and equip them with the latest scientific devices, follow a modern curriculum, and adopt modern methods in teaching, acquiring, and delivering information. This ensures the graduate is armed with the science, knowledge, experience, and skills necessary to contribute to building a better life, enabling the graduate to play an efficient and successful role in development.
Study in the Department:
Undergraduate studies consist of four full academic years according to a rigorous curriculum consisting of theoretical and practical lessons involving laboratory experiments. Through these, the student acquires the latest sciences, experiences, and skills in the field of chemistry. After completing the requirements, the graduate is awarded a Bachelor of Science (BSc.) degree in Chemistry.
Postgraduate Studies: Postgraduate studies (Master's) were opened in the department with specializations in (Biochemistry, Organic Chemistry) in the academic year 2015-2016, and a number of students were accepted.

The department's vision looks forward to advancing the educational and scientific journey with the best output of future generation students, using the best advanced scientific means and capable teaching staff, and achieving everything that contributes to the advancement of scientific development in all scientific and practical fields.
Second: Mission /
The department's mission involves preparing students who are scientifically and practically capable in all fields and at all levels, keeping pace with scientific development, including laboratory work, in addition to striving to present solid and advanced scientific research.
Third: Objectives /
1- Preparing specialized staff in general chemistry according to the needs of the university and society.
2- Expanding the department by building new halls and new educational laboratories.
3- Developing intermediate staff by involving them in educational courses.
4- Providing modern scientific resources for both the teaching staff and students.
5- Sending teaching staff with a Master's degree abroad to obtain a Ph.D.
6- Raising the scientific level of the teaching staff by providing a special research laboratory in the department to facilitate conducting their own research.
7- Urging the teaching staff to participate in national and international conferences to gain more experience and build relationships
with chemistry departments in Iraqi and foreign universities.
8- Urging third and fourth-year students to exert their maximum efforts so they can apply for postgraduate studies.
9- Working to publish scientific and qualitative articles and publications in scientific and global fields.
