Vision, Mission, and Objectives of the Biology Department

 The department was established in the academic year 2004-2005 as one of the departments of the College of Science / University of Kirkuk for both morning and evening studies. Postgraduate studies were opened (Master's in the academic year 2010-2011 and Doctorate in the academic year 2021-2022). Since its establishment, the department has been working to develop its capabilities and potential, including the teaching, technical, and administrative staff. This includes building laboratories and halls, equipping them with the latest scientific devices, following a modern curriculum, and adopting modern methods in teaching, acquiring, and delivering information. This ensures the graduate is armed with the science, knowledge, experience, and skills necessary to contribute to building and improving life, enabling the graduate to play an efficient and successful role in development.

Study in the Department:

 Undergraduate Studies: It consists of four full academic years according to a rigorous curriculum consisting of theoretical and practical lessons involving laboratory experiments. Through these, the student acquires the latest sciences, experiences, and skills in the field of biology. After completing the requirements, the graduate is awarded a Bachelor of Science (BSc.) degree in Biology. The first batch graduated in the academic year 2007-2008.

Postgraduate Studies: Master's and Doctorate programs are available in the department.

The department's mission involves preparing students who are scientifically and practically capable, suitable for the labor market in all fields and at all levels, keeping pace with scientific progress, including laboratory work, in addition to striving to present solid and advanced scientific research.

 Third: Objectives

1. Preparing scientifically and practically capable students in laboratory applications and all fields of science in a manner commensurate with the labor market.

2. Using the latest advanced educational methods to deliver educational curricula clearly.

3. Preparing specialized staff in biological subjects according to the needs of the university and society.

4. Developing scientific research to keep pace with scientific progress at all Arab and global levels.

5. Supplying higher education institutions and state departments with postgraduate degree holders.

6. Developing scientific and technical capabilities in educational laboratories and providing all their requirements to familiarize students and train them on proper use.

7. Providing special laboratories for scientific research equipped with scientific capabilities to provide teaching staff the opportunity to develop their abilities.

8. Working to publish scientific and qualitative articles and publications that keep pace with the wheel of informational development in the world.

9. Holding scientific seminars and conferences, contributing to spreading awareness in the service of society.

10. Striving to keep pace with global development and entering solid global rankings.

11. Preparing appropriate classrooms for students to accommodate a sufficient number, serving our students.

12. Working on research cooperation with governorate departments to address common problems in society, including diseases and epidemics.

13. Working on institutional cooperation with public and private universities.

14. Spreading scientific awareness among members of society through awareness campaigns.

15. Developing the capabilities of the teaching, administrative, and technical staff in the department and urging them to participate in developmental courses.
