A master's thesis at the College of Nursing in Kirkuk discussed the competencies of nurses in caring for cancer patients.

The study aimed to assess nurses’ competencies and the standards of nursing care provided to cancer patients in healthcare institutions within the city of Kirkuk through a field scientific study.

The study concluded that nursing staff demonstrated an overall moderate level of self-efficacy, while the level of adherence to scientific standards of nursing care was low, indicating an urgent need to strengthen compliance with approved professional principles and standards.

The study recommended the necessity of enhancing continuous training and qualification programs, and providing institutional support for nurses working in the field of oncology, in order to improve the quality of nursing performance and advance the healthcare services provided to cancer patients.
