A seminar at the College of Engineering at Kirkuk University on managing anxiety and psychological disorders
Under the patronage of the President of the University of Kirkuk, the respected Prof. Dr. Imran Jamal Hassan, and under the supervision of the respected Mrs. Dean of the College of Engineering, the respected Prof. Dr. Jelink Akram Omar
The Psychological Counseling Unit and the Continuing Education Division at the College of Engineering at Kirkuk University, in cooperation with the Kirkuk Health Department, held a symposium with the aim of increasing awareness among students about mental health and effective methods for managing anxiety and depression. The symposium was attended by a large number of students and faculty members, and was held in the college's main seminar hall.
The lecturers included: (Dr. Maral Akram Taher, Mrs. Iman Muhammad Saeed, Mrs. Deniz Abdel Aziz Samin, and Mr. Ali Abbas Dhafar)
The symposium began with a comprehensive introduction to the concept of psychological disorders, where the types of disorders and their possible causes were explained, such as exposure to psychological trauma, social pressures, or cases of bullying. It was highlighted that anyone could be exposed to these disorders, whether they are a student or a member of the faculty, engineering or staff.
Next, teams of mental health professionals gave detailed lectures on specific types of disorders such as neurotic and psychotic disorders. The distinctive symptoms of each type of disorder, how to deal with them and seek appropriate help are explained.
