The Kurdish Language Department at the College of Education for Humanities, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Division, organized an important scientific symposium that discussed "The History of Kurdish Literature" under the patronage and attendance of His Excellency the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Farhad Aziz Muhyiddin. The symposium enjoyed a distinguished presence of professors and students, constituting a valuable opportunity to shed light on the contributions of writers to this ancient language.
The symposium consisted of several valuable working papers, presented by the specialist in Kurdish literature, Prof. Ibrahim Ahmed Shawan, who discussed various aspects of the history of Kurdish literature. He also took the life of Baba Tahir al-Hamdani and his poetry as a model for the changes and diversities of literature throughout the ages. The papers dealt with his Kurdish origins, the influence of his environment on his poetic style, and his literary status in the Kurdish, Arabic, and Persian contexts. His poetic works were also analyzed through various critical approaches, shedding light on his use of artistic images and symbols, and his influence on Kurdish poets after him. The symposium included an open dialogue, enriched by valuable interventions, contributing to enriching the discussion and providing in-depth critical analyses of literary works. The symposium was an important academic event, as the Dean expressed that this symposium is an important step in supporting scientific research in the Kurdish Language Department, as it enriched the dialogue on the history of Kurdish literature and contributed to highlighting the role of Baba Tahir al-Hamdani as one of its most important symbols, and enhanced the understanding of the rich Kurdish literary heritage, and praised the organization of such events that contribute to spreading cultural and literary awareness.
