Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Education for Human Sciences, Professor Dr. Farhad Aziz Mohieddin, the Continuing Education Division organized a distinguished scientific symposium entitled “Reducing the phenomenon of drugs among youth” on 4/18/2024.
The symposium included a lecture and awareness presentation by the specialist in psychological sciences and head of the Department of Psychological and Educational Sciences, A.M.D. Jinan Qahtan Sarhan presented it, highlighting the impact of drug abuse on physical and mental health, and how to recognize the signs of addiction and prevent it. The topics presented varied between the main reasons for attraction towards drugs, clarifying the dangerous consequences of drug abuse, and also presenting specialized programs in treating addiction and psychological support for addicts. The symposium witnessed discussions on ways to combat this dangerous phenomenon, and the attendees interacted by exchanging opinions in this context. The Dean expressed his appreciation for this awareness-raising event, and hoped for increased efforts to expand awareness of the dangers of drugs in general society.
