A scientific symposium on correcting general ideas and concepts

Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Education for Human Sciences, Professor Dr. Farhad Aziz Mohieddin, the Continuing Education Division, in cooperation with the Studies, Planning and Follow-up Division, organized a distinguished scientific symposium entitled “The Role of Clergy and Specialized Academic Staff in Correcting Extremist Concepts and Ideas” on 3/19/2024. It was delivered by Prof. Dr. Rebwar Muhammad Saeed, Prof. Dilshad Jalal Muhammad, and Prof. Sami Zayer Ibrahim.

The symposium aimed to discuss and shed light on the pivotal role that clerics and specialized academic cadres can play in combating conceptual extremism and extremist ideas, and it reviewed the methods and tools that these specialists use in dealing with misconceptions and directing people towards correct and enlightened interpretations of religion and belief. Clerics bring their religious and cultural experience to demonstrate the values and morals that are compatible with the Islamic religion, promote peaceful coexistence, and reject violence and extremism. They work to guide society with the moderate doctrine, correct education of Islamic values, and confront extremist ideas with a precise religious methodology. As for specialized academic cadres, their role is to provide research. Scientific studies and analysis of extremist phenomena contribute to understanding their roots and manifestations, demonstrating their danger, and adopting practical solutions to confront them. However, academic cadres work to enhance awareness and culture and encourage critical thinking and enlightenment through education and the publication of scientific research.FB IMG 1711047932648FB IMG 1711047942244
