Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Education for Human Sciences, Professor Dr. Farhad Aziz Mohieddin, the Continuing Education Division, in cooperation with the Women’s Empowerment Unit and the Kirkuk Antiquities Inspectorate, organized a scientific symposium entitled (Protecting antiquities and preserving heritage is a national duty) and delivered by Mr. Raed Okla Muhammad and A.M.D. His Excellency Hassan Khalaf, Professor Mustafa Mohsen Muhammad, on 2/26/2024, and the symposium addressed the importance of preserving national heritage as a general human duty borne by every individual in society, as it is not a responsibility limited to governmental frameworks only, but rather extends to all segments of society. The importance of educating young people and conveying awareness of the importance of antiquities and heritage to future generations was pointed out. The symposium presentations also revolved around the ongoing efforts of the Iraqi state to enhance awareness of the importance of protecting antiquities and preserving heritage, and how students and those interested can contribute to this aspect and preserve the cultural heritage of society because of its role in Protecting national identity and preserving the history of Iraqi society and its ancient civilization.
