scientific field trip for students of the Geography Department

       Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Education for Human Sciences, Professor Dr. Farhad Aziz Mohieddin, and with the follow-up of the Head of the Geography Department, Professor Dr. Abbas Rashid Ali, the Geography Department organized a scientific field trip for the students of the second stage to the Taq Taq region on Wednesday, 2/21/2024, with the aim of clarifying the practical foundations. In field studies to consolidate theoretical information for the academic subjects represented by geomorphology, hydrology, soils, and geographical technologies. During the trip, the tectonic movements, geological formations, and topography of the region were identified, many of the geomorphological features and geological formations exposed on the surface were clarified, the importance of water basins for the construction of dams and their role in harvesting water for economic exploitation and benefiting from it, and the geomorphological risks such as slides and landslides that the region suffers from were clarified and ways to reduce water damage. The geomorphological risks resulting from it, and the method used in collecting soil samples to conduct analyzes and laboratory tests on them.
