The Kurdish Language Department Organizes a Cultural Symposium on Women and Poetry

Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Farhad Aziz Muhyiddin, Dean of the College of Education for the Humanities, and within the framework of academic activities aimed at highlighting cultural and literary aspects, the Kurdish Language Department, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Division, organized a symposium entitled "Women and Poetry." The symposium addressed the role of Kurdish female poets in enriching Kurdish literature. The lecturer reviewed the literary status of women in the Kurdish poetic scene and their contributions to shaping cultural identity through their poetic works. She also highlighted the most important Kurdish female poets throughout the ages, the impact their literary production had on the development of the poetic movement, and the extent to which their texts interacted with social and political issues. The symposium also discussed the challenges faced by Kurdish female poets in various historical periods and how they were able to express their issues in innovative poetic styles that reflect women's concerns and aspirations in their society. The symposium also addressed the aesthetics of Kurdish women's poetry, its distinctive artistic styles, and themes that reflect personal experience. At the conclusion of the symposium, the speakers praised The Dean emphasized the importance of highlighting women's creativity in Kurdish literature, emphasizing that women's poetry was not merely a means of expression, but rather a powerful voice that contributed to shaping Kurdish thought and culture. He also emphasized the need to encourage critical studies that focus on the literary works of female poets and open new horizons for research in this field.
