Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Farhad Aziz Mohieddin, Dean of the College of Education for the Humanities, and within the framework of scientific and cultural activities that enrich academic thought, the Department of Arabic Language, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Division, organized a scientific symposium entitled "Al-Mutanabbi and His Travels East and West - Filling the World and Concerning the People." The Dean himself lectured alongside Professor Dr. Imad Majeed Ali. The symposium served as a literary journey through the life of Al-Mutanabbi, who traveled across the world with his poems, filling the world with pride, wisdom, and rebellion. The two lecturers discussed his travels between Sayf al-Dawla al-Hamdani in the Levant, Kafur al-Ikhshidi in Egypt, and the princely courts of Iraq and Persia, explaining how these journeys were reflected in his poetry and made him a literary icon who transcended his time and place. The symposium also featured a meticulous analysis of the structure of Al-Mutanabbi's poetry, with Professor Dr. Farhad Aziz Mohieddin explaining how Al-Mutanabbi was not merely a court poet, but a poet who was also a poet of the time. He was a philosophical poet whose poetry reflected man's struggle with reality and his ambition to achieve the glory he had always dreamed of. He also highlighted his unique eloquence and his solid poetic structure, which combined eloquent language with profound meaning. Citing verses from his collection, he explained their intellectual and psychological connotations. Dr. Imad Majeed Ali focused on the political and social dimensions surrounding Al-Mutanabbi, explaining how his fluctuations between kings and princes were a reflection of a larger struggle between authority and intellectuals in different eras. This made his poetry a historical document as much as it was an immortal literary work.
