Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Farhad Aziz Mohiuddin, Dean of the College of Education for Humanities, the History Department organized a scientific visit to Kirkuk Citadel within the framework of enhancing historical knowledge through field study of archaeological sites. The visit included a field tour of the citadel's corridors and archaeological landmarks, where students listened to a detailed explanation of the history of the citadel, its cultural importance, and its role in different eras. The transformations that the citadel witnessed throughout history and the most important archaeological discoveries found in it were also discussed. The students expressed their gratitude for this opportunity that allowed them to interact directly with historical landmarks. The Dean also pointed out that direct exposure to archaeological sites enhances students' understanding of history and gives them a deeper vision of the events that shaped the region's past. He also stressed the need to preserve the cultural and historical heritage and enhance awareness of the importance of antiquities in preserving historical identity.
