Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Education for Humanities, Professor Dr. Farhad Aziz Mohiuddin, the Department of Geography organized a scientific symposium entitled "Dynamic and synoptic analysis of temperatures and rainfall in the city of Kirkuk". The symposium included a comprehensive scientific presentation of the topic of climate change in the city of Kirkuk and focused on studying the dynamic and synoptic analysis of weather factors that are concerned with understanding climate patterns and their effects. The lecturers presented research papers that discussed the climate effects on temperature rates and rainfall amounts, with an analysis of field and statistical data collected over the past decades. It also addressed issues related to the challenges facing the city due to climate change and possible ways to mitigate its negative effects. Recommendations were also proposed to improve future climate studies and benefit from research results to develop more efficient planning strategies.
The Dean praised the importance of such scientific seminars in promoting scientific research and linking theoretical knowledge to the environmental reality of Kirkuk city. He stressed the importance of studying climate factors to understand weather changes and adapt to them in a way that contributes to achieving sustainable development at the local level.
