In the presence of the Dean of the College of Education for Human Sciences, Professor Dr. Farhad Aziz Mohieddin, the Arabic Language Department discussed the master’s thesis titled “Narrations of Abu Shuaib Al-Harrani (295 AH) in the refinement of the language by Al-Azhari - collection, documentation and study” on 3/28/2024 and in the college hall.
The study dealt with an unknown linguistic figure, Abu Shuaib Al-Harrani, who was mentioned frequently in Al-Azhari’s Dictionary of Tahdheeb Al-Lughah. The student collected these narrations and then studied them. The thesis was divided into two parts. The first included the introduction and included an introduction to Al-Azhari and the writing of Tahdheeb Al-Lughah. As for the first chapter, It consisted of two sections. In the first section, it dealt with the life and biography of Al-Harrani. As for the second section, the study introduced his approach to linguistic narration. As for the second chapter, the narrations were studied at the four levels of the language - phonetic, morphological, grammatical, and semantic. Then the study concluded with a set of results, the most important of which is that Al-Harrani’s narrations amounted to 415 narrations revealed. About the personality of this eminent scholar and his knowledge, it also became clear that most of the narrations are from his sheikh Ibn al-Sakit.
