The college held a scientific seminar titled "Drugs and Their Negative Effects on the Individual and Society," presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Sakina Ali Karim, the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs. The seminar began by highlighting the increasing prevalence of drug abuse, where the lecture addressed the definition of types of drugs and their mechanisms of impact on the mind and body, as well as the psychological and health damage they cause to users, such as depression, anxiety, and deterioration of physical condition. A short awareness film was also shown, focusing on the serious social and economic effects resulting from this scourge, including family disintegration, rising unemployment rates, and the deterioration of social security due to increased crime rates. The lecture emphasized the role of educational institutions in raising students' awareness of the dangers of drugs through continuous seminars and awareness programs.
At the end of the seminar, a discussion was opened for the attendees, who raised important questions about how to deal with addicts and ways to prevent the spread of this phenomenon among youth. Professor Dr. Sakina Ali Karim emphasized the importance of cooperation between families, educational institutions, and relevant authorities to combat drugs and mitigate their negative effects on society.
