The College of Arts Celebrates Iraqi Environment Day

Under the patronage of the President of the University of Kirkuk, Prof. Dr. Omran Jamal Hassan, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Arts, Prof. Dr. Omer Najm Al-Deen Enja, the College of Arts / Continuing Education Division, in collaboration with the Department of Applied Geography, held awareness activities on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, to celebrate Iraqi Environment Day under the title "The Environment and Society."

The Dean delivered a speech in which he emphasized the necessity of developing a dedicated awareness strategy for environmental conservation, especially in light of the climate changes that have affected the world. He pointed out that Iraq is one of the top five countries most impacted by climate changes.

On his part, the Head of the Department, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Burkan Saeed Othman, delivered a speech in which he highlighted that environmental concerns have become essential in advanced societies, as human efforts have not kept pace with the increasing rates of air pollution emissions, especially in large cities. He stressed the importance of prioritizing this issue and giving it attention in all aspects of life.

The event also featured photo spots presented by students on the impact of human activities on the environment, as well as video spots by the department for environmental awareness, in addition to a scientific debate by the students of the department.
