The College of Islamic Sciences at Al-Iraqia University discussed the doctoral dissertation submitted by Abdul-Qader Ali Falih, a faculty member at the College of Arts. The thesis is titled: "Jurisprudential Preferences of Imam Yahya bin Abi al-Khair al-Imrani (d. 558 AH) in the Chapter of Prescribed Punishments (Kitab al-Hudud) through his book 'Al-Bayan fi Madhhab al-Shafi’i'."
The dissertation examined the jurisprudential preferences of Imam Yahya bin Abi al-Khair al-Imrani regarding the chapter on legal punishments (Hudud). It aimed to uncover his methodology in legal deduction and weighting opinions (Tarjih), while highlighting the impact of his jurisprudential views on enriching legal studies and demonstrating the significance of his book among the authoritative works in Shafi'i jurisprudence.
The research concluded with an analysis of Imam al-Imrani’s preferences through a comparative jurisprudential study against the views of other Islamic schools of thought. This was achieved by presenting and discussing the arguments and evidence of various jurists, clarifying his methodology in weighting opinions, and identifying areas where he agreed or disagreed with other schools, ultimately reaching the most weighted opinion in light of Sharia evidence.
