A Faculty Member from the College of Arts Participates in a Master’s Thesis Defense at the University of Fallujah

Assistant Professor Dr. Koistan Najmaddin Anja, a faculty member in the Department of Arabic Language at the College of Arts, University of Kirkuk, participated in the defense of a Master’s thesis at the University of Fallujah. The thesis, presented by student Israa Musa Kadhim, is titled: "Requestive Composition in the Poetry of Abu al-Hasan al-Tihami (d. 416 AH): A Study in the Light of the Science of Meanings (Ilm al-Ma'ani)."

The thesis aimed to identify and examine poetic citations that include requestive modes (Al-Insha' al-Talabi)—such as interrogation, command, prohibition, vocative, and wishing—within the diwan (collection) of the poet Abu al-Hasan al-Tihami. The study employed a descriptive-analytical approach based on the principles of the "Science of Meanings" (Ilm al-Ma'ani).

The study reached several conclusions, most notably the abundance of poetic texts structured around requestive compositional styles in the poetry of Abu al-Hasan al-Tihami. This structural choice imbued his verses with a dialogic quality, in addition to showcasing a wide variety of rhetorical purposes served by these requestive modes.
